Bert and Aiva joined Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) in 2008 and are
currently serving in Mareeba, Far North Queensland where Bert is an
aircraft mechanic. Located 60 kilometres inland from Cairns, the hangar
in Mareeba is MAF’s aircraft overhaul and heavy maintenance base.
MAF Australia provides vital air transport for people living in remote areas
of Papua New Guinea, North Australia, East Timor, Bangladesh and
Cambodia. Where communities are isolated because no adequate roads
or lines of communication exist, or because these are lost through war,
catastrophe, banditry or general breakdown of a country’s infrastructure,
MAF is often a community’s only link with the outside world, providing
people with access to the essentials of life.
