OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
(Love in a Shoebox)

A big thank you to everyone who has contributed to our Operation Christmas Child project again in 2008.

We nearly made our goal of 100 shoeboxes with 97 shoeboxes, which is a fantastic effort!

To help with your family budget in planning for next year’s shoebox – make a small list and over the next 12 months, when shopping look out for the bargains (especially after Christmas and before school starts) and start collecting one item from each main group:

‘Something to Love’
Teddy bear, doll, soft toy etc.

‘ Something for school’
Exercise book, pencil case, pens, pencils, colouring pencils, sharpener, eraser, chalk, etc

‘Something for personal hygiene’
Soap and face washer, toothbrush, hairbrush, comb, hair-clips, scrunchies etc) No toothpaste

‘Something to wear’
T-shirts, shorts, underwear, cap, beanie, sandals, thongs etc. (no socks)

‘Something to play with’
Tennis ball, cars, skipping rope, marbles, musical instrument, yo-yo, slinky, finger puppets (no battery operated items)

‘Something special’
Carry bag, sunglasses, bangles, necklaces, craft kits, stickers, note or photo of yourself.

Gift Ideas for BOYS OR GIRLS
Fill your shoebox with one or more items from each ‘something’: (due by 30th August 2009

DO NOT INCLUDE:
Items that leak or melt,
Any food or lollies
And used or damaged items (including clothes)
Any breakable items
Any item that can scare or harm a child
Any gambling related items (e.g. playing cards, dominoes) Anything of a religious, racial or political nature
