The Church recognises its moral and legal responsibility to provide a safe and healthy work environment for employees, voluntary workers and visitors. Employees and voluntary workers also have a responsibility to contribute to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. Together, through communication, education and awareness we aim to maintain an operation where employees, volunteers and visitors are safe from injury from harm.
The Church will endeavour to;
· Provide safe plant and systems of work
· Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and standards
· Provide employees, contractors and voluntary workers with information, instruction, training and supervision for their safety
· Support and assist employees and voluntary workers in maintaining their emotional and physical well-being
· To provide a safe workplace
· To implement work, health and safety and welfare policies and procedures
· To actively promote and be involved in those policies and procedures
Responsibilities of employees and voluntary workers
· Follow all work, health and safety policies and procedures
· Report all hazards identified to the Work, Health and Safety officer.
· Comply with all lawful instructions
· Not behave in an unsafe manner that could cause injury to themselves or others
Consultation
The Church is committed to encouraging consultation and cooperation between church employees and voluntary workers. This will involve all parties being consulted about workplace changes that may affect their safety, health and welfare.
